Petro Homestead – Connected Farm

BUSINESS NEED

Petro Station is a 26,685ha property, located 60km north of Mildura and is used as a large-scale grazing and cropping property.

THE CHALLENGE: Petro Station, like so many Australian Grazing & Croping operations suffers from a lack of connectivity and are unable to effectivly run their day to day business operations.

SOLUTION

Install 12m Tower infrastructure along with Star Private LTE operating on 1800Mhz. The only connection to the outside world is via a NBN Sky Muster connection back at the homestead. To connect into theis service a 5Ghz PTP radio was established.

FINDING THE RIGHT SOLUTION

Connected Farms procurement reached out to communications expert James McCarthy, from SigTel Group, to find out how to install and commission the private mobile coverage within the homestead points of interest. Sigtel deployed its MIldura based team to effect the Connected Farms connectivity installation including a large solar power system to power the entire communications infrastructure.

SUPPORTING RURAL FARMING OPERATION

Petro Station now has the backbone of a robust communications network which in turn gives it the ability to conduct work outside of the NBN Sky Muster modem located within the homestead. With its employees now enjoying cellular service within 10km radius of the newly erected communcations structure which will improve productivity and the safety of the Station employees.
